The legal battle involving controversial Nigerian musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has taken another turn as an Abeokuta Magistrate’s Court adjourned his case to March 26, 2025. The adjournment follows a request by the prosecution to merge his charges with those of his workers for a streamlined trial.
When the case resumed on Wednesday, Senior State Counsel Timileyin Oredein argued that proceeding separately with Portable’s case and that of his nine workers would be a waste of the court’s time. He emphasized that both cases were intertwined, as they stemmed from the same alleged offenses.
The embattled singer and his employees were arraigned on a five-count charge, including conspiracy, assault, unlawful obstruction while armed with cutlasses and a gun, and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace. They were also accused of attacking three officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
With the court now granting the prosecution’s request to consolidate the charges, all eyes are on the upcoming trial, as the case continues to draw significant public attention.
