Media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, better known as Daddy Freeze, has stirred heated debates by declaring that miracles performed in Nigerian Pentecostal churches are staged and lack credibility. He argued that no Nigerian pastor has publicly healed a well-known figure or performed a verifiable miracle comparable to those recorded in the Bible.
Speaking on the latest episode of Outside The Box podcast, Daddy Freeze asserted that religious leaders in Nigeria rely on choreographed performances to convince their followers. He questioned why prominent Nigerians suffering from terminal illnesses have never been miraculously healed despite intense prayers from top clerics.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t believe in any miracles performed in Pentecostal churches,” he stated. “I have no issue with the pastors, but I need proof. My IQ is 156—I’d have to be dumb to believe them. Christ healed the blind, raised Lazarus, and performed public miracles witnessed by many. Where is that happening in Nigeria today?”
He cited the cases of former NAFDAC DG, Dora Akunyili, and Nollywood actor, Mr. Ibu, both of whom battled critical health conditions before their deaths despite the prayers of respected pastors.
“Dora Akunyili was dying of cancer, and every Nigerian G.O prayed for her, yet she wasn’t healed. Mr. Ibu’s health deteriorated to the point of amputation—where were the miracles? And after he died, no one could raise him,” he challenged.
Daddy Freeze, a longtime critic of Nigerian church practices, has repeatedly accused religious leaders of exploiting their followers. His latest remarks have reignited discussions on faith, miracles, and the accountability of religious institutions in Nigeria.
