The foundation organized a well-attended conference at Rockview Hotel, Owerri, on March 7, 2025, bringing together notable dignitaries, policymakers, and advocates for women’s empowerment. Distinguished speakers included the Honorable Commissioner for Tertiary and Technical Education in Imo State, Prof. Victor Nwachukwu; Dr. Fatima Ijeoma Emetuma (FOWAN); Mrs. Blessing Okorie; Prof. K.O. Nworgu; Dr. Dorathy Nnaji; CP Aboki Danjuma (represented); and Rt. Hon. Uju Onwudiwe. Representatives from the offices of the Imo State Deputy Governor and the Commissioner of Police were also in attendance.

The foundation’s Executive Director, Sylvie Marie, reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to uplifting less-advantaged individuals, emphasizing the importance of education and technology in women’s empowerment. In a tangible demonstration of support, the foundation provided financial grants to over 200 women, primarily widows and those with disabilities, to assist them in starting their own businesses. Each beneficiary received at least ₦200,000, enabling them to venture into trades such as catering and tailoring. Furthermore, the foundation announced plans to build a house for a widow within four months to improve her living conditions.

The event served as a powerful call to action, urging governments to enforce laws protecting women’s rights, organizations to prioritize women’s inclusion in leadership roles, and society to challenge stereotypes and cultural practices that limit women. The Ike Odoeme Foundation’s initiatives exemplify a proactive approach to accelerating action toward a more equitable future for women, reinforcing the belief that empowered women are key drivers of societal growth.
