Rivers United’s technical adviser, Finidi George, has sent a strong message to league leaders Remo Stars, vowing that his team will fight until the final matchday to mount pressure on the table toppers in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title race.

Following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ikorodu City last weekend, Rivers United closed the gap on Remo Stars to five points. With 52 points and a handful of crucial fixtures remaining, the Pride of Rivers remain determined to push for the title, banking on potential slip-ups from the league leaders.

“We will keep pushing and put more pressure on Remo Stars,” Finidi told the club’s media team. “We have to do our part, win our remaining matches, and then see how their outstanding fixture against Lobi Stars plays out.”

Remo Stars, sitting at the top with 57 points, still have a game in hand, which could extend their lead if they secure maximum points. However, Rivers United’s resurgence under Finidi has reignited the title race, keeping the battle for NPFL supremacy wide open.

With every match now a must-win, the intensity is building as Rivers United aim to disrupt Remo Stars’ dominance. Will Finidi’s men complete a late-season charge, or will Remo Stars hold their ground and secure their first-ever NPFL title?
