Renowned Nollywood actress Dupe Jayesimi has opened up about the deep emotional pain of being childless at 60, revealing how loneliness overshadowed what should have been a joyous milestone.

In a tearful interview on the Talk to B podcast, the veteran actress shared how she spent her 60th birthday alone in a hotel room, crying, while longing for the kind of celebration that children often organize for their parents.

“Nobody celebrated me on my 60th birthday. I know how children celebrate their parents, but I have none to do that for me. Instead, I gave someone money to prepare food and share it in my name while I locked myself in a hotel and cried for days,” she said.

A Painful Marital Journey
Jayesimi recalled how her journey to motherhood was met with heartbreak. She lost her first pregnancy just weeks after her wedding in 1988 and later faced medical complications that led to an invasive procedure. However, instead of support, she said her husband abandoned her for three months and later asked her to leave their home.

“After the procedure, my husband disappeared for three months. When he returned, he told me to pack my things and leave. Two weeks later, he married another woman—who was already pregnant for him.”

Her story has since sparked emotional reactions online, with fans and colleagues expressing sympathy and sending words of encouragement.
