Heartland FC held firm in a tense battle against Sunshine Stars, grinding out a hard-fought 0-0 draw in their NPFL Matchday 31 clash at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, on Wednesday.
Coming off a disappointing 2-0 home loss to Abia Warriors, the Naze Millionaires showed resilience to avoid another setback. Head coach Emmanuel Amuneke praised his team’s determination, admitting that while they aimed for all three points, the draw was a fair result.
“It was a tough game for both teams, considering their positions on the table,” Amuneke stated. “Each side wanted maximum points, but we couldn’t take our chances, and they also failed to capitalize on theirs. Overall, it’s not a bad result, though we would have preferred to win.”
Heartland’s defensive solidity ensured they left Ijebu Ode with a crucial point, keeping their survival hopes alive as the NPFL season nears its climax.
