National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) officials in Lagos State reportedly went into hiding after summoning Corps member Ushie Rita Uguamaye, known online as Raye, following her viral video criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Raye recently gained attention for a TikTok video where she expressed frustration over Nigeria’s escalating economic challenges, labeling President Tinubu as a “terrible leader.” She highlighted the soaring prices of basic commodities, such as a crate of eggs rising to N6,500 from N800, and the inadequacy of the NYSC allowance to cover living expenses.

Following the video’s circulation, NYSC officials allegedly threatened Raye and summoned her to the Eti-Osa Local Government office at 10 a.m. on Monday. In response, human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, accompanied by legal representatives, escorted her to the scheduled meeting. Upon arrival, they found the NYSC officials absent. Sowore commented, “We accompanied Raye with some attorneys to the LGI but the officials absconded; they went into hiding.”
