The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the mysterious death of 21-year-old Tosin Lawal, a heavily pregnant woman who passed away suddenly in Ilaro, Ogun State.
According to police reports, Lawal, who was nine months pregnant, complained of rapid heart palpitations on Monday, March 10, 2025. Her husband, Akeem, immediately rushed her to Ore-Ofe Specialist Hospital, but she was pronounced dead on arrival around 3:30 PM.
Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, stated that Lawal had no prior medical history of illness, making her sudden death all the more shocking.
“The police have advised Akeem to take his wife’s remains to the State Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. Coroner forms have been submitted, and further investigation into the cause of death is underway,” Odutola revealed.
Lawal’s tragic passing is one of several recent cases of sudden deaths in Ogun State. On March 6, a 32-year-old man, Isaac Omoleye, was found lifeless in his home near the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, with no visible signs of foul play. Similarly, 62-year-old hotel worker Abel Johnson was discovered dead in his room at De-Lay Classic Hotel in Kajola Village after failing to report for duty.
The rising number of unexplained deaths has sparked concern among residents, with many calling for deeper investigations into potential underlying health or environmental causes. Authorities have assured the public of a thorough inquiry into the incidents.
