Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli has erupted in fury over unauthorized broadcasts of her movies by Ghanaian television stations, vowing to take decisive legal action against the perpetrators.

In a fiery Instagram post on Saturday evening, Oboli directly called out the stations for airing her films without obtaining proper licenses. She also criticized the Ghana National Film Authority for failing to clamp down on what she described as intellectual property theft.

“I love my Ghanaian besties, colleagues, and friends, but you see those TV stations in Ghana? I’m coming for you! The guts to show my movies without licensing! If dem no arrest one of una, you won’t learn!” she fumed.

The actress, known for blockbuster productions like Wives on Strike and The Rivals, stressed that filmmaking requires immense dedication, sleepless nights, and financial investments. She warned that any station found guilty of airing her work illegally would be forced to pay damages.

“You will pay for every one of my movies you have shown without permission! In 2025, you don’t understand that’s IP theft? Maybe you don’t have a television authority in Ghana, but that is not my concern! Coming for you all! Clowns!” she added.

Her comments have sparked widespread debate about the persistent issue of content piracy in Africa’s entertainment industry. Observers believe this case could set a precedent for stricter enforcement of intellectual property laws within the African film space.
