Victor Osimhen’s relentless goal-scoring form has sparked fresh predictions that he will surpass Rashidi Yekini’s legendary record as Nigeria’s all-time top scorer. Former Super Eagles forward Victor Ikpeba believes it is only a matter of time before the Napoli hitman claims the throne.
Osimhen, 26, netted twice in Nigeria’s 2-0 triumph over Rwanda last Friday, elevating his tally to 25 goals in just 39 appearances. With only 12 goals standing between him and Yekini’s historic 37-goal record, the reigning African Player of the Year is closing in fast.
“Osimhen is on an incredible path. If he stays fit and keeps this hunger, he will break Yekini’s record,” Ikpeba asserted. “He plays with passion, commitment, and the kind of mentality that makes legends.”
