Pastor Femi Lazarus and renowned singer Timi Dakolo have put their differences aside after their recent social media clash over the commercialization of gospel music.
The disagreement erupted when Pastor Lazarus criticized gospel artists for charging high fees to perform in churches, a stance that Dakolo countered by pointing out that the pastor himself charges fees for his School of Ministry. The debate sparked heated reactions across social media, drawing attention to financial expectations within the gospel community.
On Monday evening, Pastor Lazarus took to Instagram to announce that he and Dakolo had reconciled. Sharing a photo with the singer and Pastor Emmanuel Iren, he acknowledged the validity of Dakolo’s concerns and praised him for advocating for musicians.
“My brother Timi Dakolo is a music legend, give him his flowers. What a man! He genuinely carries the burdens of musicians,” Lazarus wrote. “Pain is real. From pulpits to the pew, the pain is real, but we will be fine. This generation will not have a carryover of pain.”
The reconciliation has sparked discussions about the need for better structures in Nigeria’s gospel industry, with many calling for more transparency and fairness in how churches and musicians collaborate.
