Tensions in the Nigerian Senate escalated further as Senator Yemi Adaramodu (Ekiti South) took a swipe at his colleague, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central), accusing her of turning serious legislative matters into “content creation.” His remarks came after Natasha entered Wednesday’s plenary session with a kiss from her husband, High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, amid her ongoing legal battle against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Natasha had earlier submitted a sexual harassment petition against Akpabio, accusing him of abuse of office and obstruction of her legislative duties. However, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions dismissed the petition, declaring it “dead on arrival.” Akpabio has since denied the allegations, stating that he has never harassed any woman.

Speaking on Channels Television, Adaramodu described Natasha’s actions as a deliberate ploy to stir controversy, likening it to schoolyard theatrics. “It’s bewildering… watching the clips, it was sickening and pathetic. When I saw my colleague enter with a kiss, it reminded me of childhood drama. Is this where we are in the Senate?” he remarked.

He further questioned the public solidarity surrounding Natasha’s case, arguing that Senate rules must be upheld regardless of gender or personal sentiments. “Are we saying that when one of us, man or woman, breaches the law, we should overlook it?” he asked, referencing Natasha’s previous refusal to move to a reassigned seat before ultimately complying.

As political tensions continue to mount in the Senate, this latest altercation has sparked heated debates over the intersection of gender, power, and political maneuvering in Nigeria’s legislative arm.
