A tragic incident has shaken Laoso community in Ondo State, as a 60-year-old farmer, Mrs. Adelugba, was brutally murdered by her labourer following accusations of kola nut theft. The gruesome attack occurred along the Laje Camp axis of Ondo West Local Government Area.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect was caught red-handed stealing kola nuts from the deceased’s farm. Fearing the severe consequences of being banished under local customs, he pleaded for mercy and reportedly offered to either repay the value of the stolen produce or have it deducted from his wages.

Despite reaching an agreement, the labourer allegedly trailed Mrs. Adelugba to her farm, where he launched a violent attack with a machete, inflicting fatal injuries. The chilling nature of the murder has left the community in shock.

Security operatives swiftly apprehended the suspect, who was initially detained at the Fagun Police Division before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Akure for further interrogation. Sources within the police confirm that the suspect admitted to the crime, claiming he was angered by the victim’s persistent demand for a confession.
