The Imo State Chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria was thrown into jubilation as the two factions came together for the first time since they held two different elections that produced two different chairpersons.
The meeting which took place at the Bongo Center Owerri, Imo State was presided by the National Chairman of the Guild, Emeka Rollas, who in the midst of other National excos dissolved the Conac Nnanna Chibueze Umez led executive with the agreement of both parties.
Previously, a peace committee from the National Headquarters of the guild had come to Imo State to investigate the fiasco that led to them having two different election and recommended a fresh and joint election, which the National President had come to implement.
After charging the members to work together, irrespective of their factions, a fresh election was conducted and new executives emerged.
The newly elected executives are:
1. Chairman – Nneoma Ukpabi
2. Vice Chairman – Chikodi Nwafor F (Mopol)
3. Secretary – Ken Anoruo
4. Asst. Secretary – Kenneth Peters Nkasiobi
5. Lolo Ngozi Iheboro – Treasurer
6. Director of Guild Services DGS – Angelo De Tadi
7. P.R.O – Ogali Emenike
8. Chief Whip – Uche Best Madumere
The newly elected executives will be sworn in tomorrow Saturday December 8, 2017 at Bongo Center by 10am, with the National President expected to lead in the occasion in the company of others.
Speaking after the election, the incoming Chairman, Nneoma Ukpabi said she is happy and also ready to work with everyone to build AGN in the state.
“The days of factions are over” she said, calling on everyone to join her as they transform AGN in Imo State.
Other members who spoke to www.otowngist.com, said they are happy the days of commotions are over, they also thanked the National Excos for wading into the crisis as well as solving it when it is yet to escalate.
After the inauguration, the next point of call would be the official presentation of the excos to the Senior Special Assistant to Imo State Governor on Entertainment, Hon. Chukwunonye Irouno
