A Nigerian Catholic priest serving in Malawi, Fr Kelvin Ugwu, says the decision by the former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi to dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was justifiable.

Recall that Obi on Wednesday announced his resignation from the main opposition party and withdrew from the presidential race.

The development has continued to generate reactions on social media as many expressed disappointment in the decision of the former aspirant.

Reacting, in a post on his verified Facebook page, Fr Kelvin claimed that Obi would not have emerged as flagbearer of the party, citing other aspirants in PDP battling for the sole ticket.

According to the clergy, Obi does not have the chance to win the PDP presidential primary election when the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar is also battling for it.

He wrote, “You are blaming Peter Obi for leaving PDP. You know for sure that with the constitutional arrangement and selection of delegates, he does not have any chance of winning the primaries with PDP when Atiku is there.

“You want him to share money with all the delegates, especially the Northern delegates, and compromise his principles by promising them ministerial positions after the elections so that the cycle of corruption will continue?
