There is uncertainty over the scheduled governorship primary election in Taraba State as the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership, at the time of filing this report, is yet to decide on the method to adopt in conducting the exercise.

The party faithful is becoming impatient over the inability of the party to arrive at an acceptable decision.

While some of the members were observed to be agitating for direct primaries, others are vehemently canvassing for indirect methods.

The inability of the party to arrive at a concrete decision, it would be recalled, made it impossible for the APC to wrestle power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last political dispensation.

DAILY POST reports that the same scenario may be playing out as the party has not been able to come out with a clear method for electing the party’s flag bearer for the state today.

Some stalwarts of the party, who spoke with our correspondent under anonymity, admitted that the party has been finding it difficult to arrive at a method that will be generally acceptable to the aspirants and their supporters.

One of the stalwarts who claimed that “all our efforts to dialogue with the aspirants and arrive at a decision that will favour all of them failed” expressed sadness that their efforts could not see the light of the day.

Craving for anonymity, he said, “I and my colleagues did not return to our homes yesterday until around 3.30 am this morning, all because we want to provide a level playing ground for all our aspirants.”

Adding that “our major challenge now is the method that will be suitable for use in this state” he said, “as at now we are confused because the aspirants are already divided and their supporters have followed suit.”

“While some of the aspirants” according to him “have agreed that we go for direct primaries” others, as stated by him “are insisting that we adopt the indirect system.”

At the time of filing this report, it is not clear if the exercise will hold as no venue has been set aside for delegates to converge.
