Niger Police Command on Monday June 6, gave out N64 million to 30 families of policemen who died in active service between 2020 and 2021.

Commissioner of Police in the state, Monday Bala Kuryas released the money on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman.

Spokesman of the Command Wasiu Abiodun said in a statement that the gesture is an initiative of the IGP Group Life Assurance geared towards improving the lives and capacity of the families left behind by these heroic officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

While presenting the cheques to the next of kin of the fallen operatives, the commissioner appreciated the Inspector-General of Police for such laudable initiative.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to judiciously use the cash for the welfare of the families.

Expressing gratitude over the money released, one of the beneficiaries was quoted saying; 

“We will ensure that the resources will be well managed towards an improved standard of our living.”
