Former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima has explained why Bola Tinubu emerged as the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress for the 2023 general election.

Shettima said aside from the endorsement of Tinubu by six other presidential aspirants, his personality and nationwide acceptability also played a crucial role in his emergence as the APC’s presidential candidate for next year’s election.

According to him, those who contested with Tinubu couldn’t match his political credentials.

Shettima disclosed this in a series of tweets via his Twitter handle on Thursday.

DAILY POST had reported that Tinubu pulled 1,271 votes to beat his closest contenders, former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi (316 votes) and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (235 votes), on Wednesday.

“The endorsement of Asiwaju by six aspirants even before the election, which he won by a massive landslide, underscored his mass appeal among the esteemed contenders.

“I congratulate you for being a part of this history and doing so without underlining any of the country’s fault-lines,” Shettima tweeted.
