Joe Aribo has insisted the Super Eagles can only get better under new head coach, Jose Peseiro after the team laboured to a 2-1 win against Sierra Leone on Thursday night.
The Super Eagles dominated proceedings in the game, but were sometimes hindered by the poor playing surface of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
Despite their dominance, the Super Eagles looked shaky at the back at times and needed a big save from Francis Uzoho to prevent the Leone Stars from taking a two-goal lead early in the game.
The win was the first for the Super Eagles under Peseiro after the defeat against Mexico and Ecuador.
Despite the nervy nature of the victory, Aribo is confident the Super Eagles will improve with more games under the Portuguese.
“It’s important to win our first game of the qualifiers. We can play better, we will continue to improve and we will get better,” the Rangers midfielder told reporters after the game.
“We are working with the new manager and following his philosophy,” he added.
The Super Eagles will now shift attention to Monday’s matchday two encounter against Sao Tome and Principe.
