Aminu Derwan, the paramount ruler of Panyam, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, who was kidnapped by bandits, has regained freedom.

The paramount ruler regained his freedom from captivity on Wednesday night after spending three days with his abductors.

Alabo Alfred, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed Derwan’s release in Jos on Thursday.

A source told DAILY POST that the entire community is happy with the release of the traditional ruler.

According to the source, “We are happy that the traditional ruler has been released. The Panyam community has been in a joyful mood since our district head was released last night. I’m not aware how much was paid to secure his release, but I know that ransom was paid before the kidnappers agreed to release him.”

The paramount ruler was abducted in the early hours of Monday by the bandits who stormed and attacked his palace.

The bandits had contacted his family members a few hours after his abduction and demanded the sum of N150 million.
