The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, has ordered the deployment of more security personnel to all Correctional Centres across the state.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, SP Odiko Macdon, issued on Tuesday, the CP said the directive was part of his proactive efforts in forestalling any attack on the facilities.

The statement noted that the CP ordered the deployment when he undertook a two days tour of Custodian facilities in the company of Mr Julius Ezugwu, Controller of Corrections, Nigerian Correctional Service, Akwa Ibom State.

CP also warned officers in each of the facilities to be vigilant and courageous in the discharge of their duties and urged them to report any suspicious movement to security agencies

The statement in parts, “As a preventive measure, the CP ordered for the immediate deployment of more Police Personnel to boost the security situation in each of the Correctional facilities and warned the Officers to be vigilant and courageous.”
