The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, Olatoye Durosinmi, has ordered the deployment of more security personnel to all correctional centres across the state.

A statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, on Tuesday, said the police boss ordered the deployment when he embarked on a two-day tour of the custodian facilities in the company of the Controller of Corrections, Nigerian Correctional Service, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Julius Ezugwu.

The statement was titled, “CP Olatoye Durosinmi assessed and re-jigged security at all correctional facilities in Akwa Ibom.”

While stating that the move is a proactive security measure to prevent “untoward incidents” in the state, the CP warned officers in each of the facilities to be vigilant and courageous in the discharge of their duties and urged them to report any suspicious movement to security agencies.

The statement read partly, “As a preventive measure, the CP ordered the immediate deployment of more police personnel to boost the security situation in each of the facilities and warned the officers to be vigilant and courageous.
