No fewer than seven persons have reportedly died as a result of heavy downpours in Kaugama and Kafin Hausa local Government areas of Jigawa State.

Kirikasamma council chairman, Isa Adamu Matara disclosed this when he paid a sympathy visit to the victims of the flood.

He said five people lost their lives as a result of the heavy downpour which lasted for about twelve hours in the Kirikasamma local government area while seven more people sustained injuries and were admitted to Hadejia general hospital for treatment.

He said the affected villages include Tandanu, Turabu, Auyakayi, and Tsangaya. Unguwar area, Tudun Muntsira, Majema, Gagulmari, Maijaleni, and Barrie sabuwa villages.

Adamu also said the flood resulted in the collapse of many houses and the loss of properties worth millions of Naira.

While in Balangu town, Kafin-Hausa Local Government Area, two more persons were confirmed dead as a result of a heavy downpour.

The heavy downpour also destroyed houses, livestock, food items and farm produce worth millions of naira was submerged at Ayama, Jura villages.

A resident told DAILY POST that the rainfall which lasted for many hours forced the victims out of their houses to shelter in schools and neighbouring houses.

The victims, however, called on National and State Emergency Management Agencies to come to their rescue.
