Staff of Imo State House of Assembly are presently planning to take actions that could cripple activities in the house according to an inside source.

The staff said that they are being owed allowances running to more than three years, stating that Speakers in that period have done nothing but make fake promises.

One of the staff who spoke to www.OtownGist.com said that the painful part is that they are aware of their allowances being captured in the House budget, but for three years none of the Speakers have cared to pay them.

“For reasons best known to them, they have refused to pay us allowances that are due to us”

“The present speaker, Hon. Kennedy Ibe is also following the same bad path other Speakers used to hurt us and working closely with the Clerk means we have been silent, but that won’t be forever”, he said.

The staff said that they have been quiet because they want the image of the House to be intact, but they will no longer do that at the detriment of their welfare.

He said that they will soon be taking actions to ensure that beyond their voices being heard, they will be paid what is due to them.

“It is unfair knowing that our allowances are captured in the budget but they are not paid. If other Speakers did it, there is no reason for this Speaker to do same when he understands how inhumane his actions are”

“We will not be revealing our line of action because we understand how things work around here, it will be a surprise and if the speaker and clerk refuse to do something before them, we might be forced to spill more issues that will tarnish the image of the House”, he added.

OtownGist reached out to one of the aides of the Speaker to hear their side of the story, but their promise to respond was never kept.
