Some soldiers of the Nigerian Army have reportedly gone on a shooting spree, killing two workers at a block industry and an elderly man in his shop located at Ekeututu market area, along Ohukabia road in Orsu-Ihitte-Ukwa, Orsu Local Government of Imo State.

The incident, SaharaReporters reliably gathered, happened on Tuesday afternoon.

Sources, who spoke to SaharaReporters, gave the names of the two block moulders shot dead as Ugochukwu Obianeli and Nonso Oga.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also revealed that the soldiers came from Obinze Artillery Brigade, Imo State.

The source said “Nigerian Soldiers invaded Ekeututu Market yesterday, August 30, 2022 and shot two persons dead. The deceased are Ugochukwu Obianeli and his colleague, Oga Nonso. The incident happened around noon at a block industry site in the Ekeututu market area along the road to Ohukabia.

“Soldiers invaded the market area and when the people got the information, they started running away for safety. Still, these two young men who were at the block industry site molding blocks which was part of what they did to earn a living were unlucky as they were shot by the invading soldiers from the Nigerian Army, Obinze.

“Information also has it that one elderly man from Ubahaorsu who deals on electrical materials in the said Ekeututu market was shot on his two legs by the trigger-happy soldiers who caught him in his shop where he was taking refuge as he could not run like other younger ones.

“The soldiers brought him out of his shop and upon realising he was an old man instead of killing him, they shot him on both legs and abandoned him to his fate.

“The report has it that the man had also died.”

Efforts to speak with the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, were on successful as he did not take his calls and had yet to respond to a text message sent to his line.
