Two children who were kidnapped in Kwara state have escaped after their abductors fell asleep in the forest.
It was gathered that the kidnappers killed the victims’ father, Alhaji Tunde Aribidesi, at his residence in Alagbado, Gaa Osibi area of Ilorin.
Aribidesi, a businessman at Ojatuntun, Baboko, Ilorin, was macheted to death by the assailants on Thursday night, September 29, 2022.
The kidnappers took away his two children, Jamiu (12) and Sambo (15) and demanded N10m for their release.
According to PUNCH report, the two children escaped on Sunday night, October 3, after their abductors slept off.
“The kidnapers used the phone of our late father to contact our family for N10m ransom, but we escaped from the bush when they (kidnappers) were sleeping and we arrived at our house early in the morning,” Sambo said.
A medical doctor (name withheld), who confirmed the development said the two children are in his hospital receiving treatment.
A friend of the deceased, Alfa Lawal Taoheed, had solicited prayers on Facebook for the safe return of the kids while negotiation was ongoing with the kidnappers.
“The family arranged N7m through a representative. However, the kidnappers could not tell the man where exactly to meet them or drop the money, which made him return with it.” Taoheed said.
