The Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Audi, said the National Honour conferred on him by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), would motivate him to do more in curbing oil theft and vandalism.
Audi was conferred with the National Honour of Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Tuesday in Abuja alongside other eminent personalities.
Audi, in a statement signed by the Corps Spokesperson, Olusola Odumosu, on Wednesday, assured Nigerians that the NSCDC would redouble its efforts and go the extra mile in fulfilling its mandate to make Nigeria great, safe and secure.
“I am highly grateful to be acknowledged and awarded by President Buhari with such National Honour and this signifies the need to put in more effort towards improving national security.
“I also want to commend my officers and men for their support, hard work, bravery, resilience, and synergy with other security agencies.
“I dedicate this Honour first to God Almighty, all well-meaning Nigerians, and my gallant officers and men across the country who have made this achievement possible,” the NSCDC boss said after the conferment.
The statement added, “Audi joined NSCDC in November 1996 as a volunteer and was later regularised as a full-fledged officer of the Corps upon the signing into law of the 2003 NSCDC Act establishing the Corps as a full-fledged Paramilitary Agency of Government.
“He served in various capacities in the last 26 years until his appointment as the 3rd Substantive NSCDC Commandant General on March 1st, 2021.
“He became a Member of the National Institute as an Alumni of the Prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies after attending the Senior Executive Course 38.
“Audi is also a member and Fellow of many prestigious professional bodies, he has received several Professional Merit Awards and has attended local and international training.
“Audi, has since his appointment hit the ground running with his vision to rejig, reenergise, revitalise, revamp, re-focus, restructure and reposition the Corps for better performance.
“Under his watch, NSCDC has been rejuvenated and has not only recorded a string of successes in the Protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, and conviction of arrested suspects but has ensured regular and prompt sharing of actionable intelligence and effective synergy with other security Agencies.
“This feat and many more have earned him a commendation from the Office of the National Security Adviser for his display of extraordinary patriotism, professionalism, and commitment which earned him the OFR award by the President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).”
