The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship flagbearer for Jigawa State in the 2023 general election, Dr Mustapha Lamido, has described the recent appointment of political aides by Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar, a few months to the end of his tenure as deceptive.

Lamido reacted in a statement made available to DAILY POST in Abuja by Umar Kyari Jitau Madamuwa, Deputy Director, Media and Publicity of his campaign directorate.

The PDP governorship candidate viewed the development as a ‘panic appointment’ and a shameful act which should not happen, given that there’s no time for the appointees to settle and work for the people anymore.

The statement quoted Lamido to have stated this while addressing PDP stakeholders from the Ringim Local Government Area of the state at the ongoing interactive meetings with party officials from all local governments.

The statement said: “I wondered how on earth a government that has only five months to pack off will resort to deceiving its citizens by appointments that were supposed to have been done seven years ago.”

He promised to unite the state when elected and assured that developmental projects would be sited in all the nooks and crannies of the state, urging the stakeholders to unite among themselves to enable PDP to emerge victorious with bright results.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Ringim Local Government chapter of PDP, Alh. Ali Beguwa, assured that the party will be in all the polling units in view of the mass defection by APC and other smaller party members into the party.
