The Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Kalu, on Wednesday expressed sadness over the death of Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, first republic Minister of Aviation.

Kalu, in a condolence message in Abuja, commiserated with the government and people of Anambra State over the death of the politician.

He described Amaechi as a nationalist and patriotic statesman who was committed to democratic virtues and good governance.

According to him, Amaechi lived a purposeful life in the service of humanity and his leadership qualities were extraordinary and worthy of emulation.

Kalu said, “I received with pain the news of the demise of the first Republic Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi.

“He left behind good legacies for leaders to emulate.

“The late politician will be remembered for his noble contributions to humanity.’’

Kalu, a former Governor of Abia State, also prayed to God Almighty to grant the former minister, who died at the age of 93, eternal rest.
