A suspected kidnapper, Umaru Mohammed (20), who was arrested while buying food and slippers at Oro in Irepodun LGA, has been arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping.

A First Information Report (FIR) revealed that Mohammed was arrested after one Ibrahim Umar complained that two of his sons, Umaru Ibrahim (14) and Yusuf Ibrahim (four,) were kidnapped by the suspect and two others, Babangida and Laagi.

Testifying in court, Prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni said;

“They later demanded a ransom of N30m but were paid N400,000 after negotiation. However, the suspect was later arrested at Oro where he went to buy food and slippers.

“N52,000 was found on him after a search as part of the share of the ransom he collected which he confessed to during investigation.”

The magistrate, Isah, remanded the suspect and adjourned to November 30, 2022.
