He made this known while receiving the NYSC National Governing Board at the Government House in Abeokuta, during a courtesy visit.

The governor then described the NYSC as a “right step in the right direction.”

“The NYSC Scheme is geared towards national unity and integration which is very commendable because many of our children have been exposed to the different parts of the country through NYSC. It has helped them to interact with fellow youths from other parts of the country. This, to a very great extent, has promoted national unity and integration,” he said during the meeting on Wednesday.

Abiodun said even though the state government was facing the challenge of paucity of funds, his government would continue to support the NYSC scheme in the State.

He promised more support for the scheme, specifically in the refurbishment of an ambulance, connection of the public power supply of the orientation camp in Sagamu to the Ikenne Grid, which promises more hours of electricity supply, as well as sending the State Ministry of Works to assess the dilapidation of the state-owned Corps Lodge at Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta for possible renovation.
