A 25-year-old man, David Hunga, has been arraigned before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing company equipment estimated at N1.245m.

The defendant was arraigned on two counts of stealing.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Haruna Magaji, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on November 11, 2022, around 3am, at the A & A Global Leasing PC Engineering Close, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

He said the defendant connived with one Aminu Ahmed, a worker of the said company, to steal one Axel, valued at N350,000; one propeller, valued at N 85,000; two turn tables, valued at N800,000; and one table cloth, valued at N10,000, all valued at N1,245,000.

The charge read in part, “That you, David Hunga, and other now at large, on November 11, 2022, around 3am, at A & A Global Leasing PC Engineering Close, off Idowu Tailor, Victoria Island, Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony, to wit, stealing, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, L.Y. Balogun, holding brief for O.Y. Adetope, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with one responsible surety in like sum.
