“Given under the Hand and the Seal of the Honourable Court, this Monday, the 23rd day of January 2023.”

In the petition, Oni claimed that the APC had no governorship candidate in the June 18 election because the nomination forms of Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy were signed by Mai Mala Buni, who as the sitting Governor of Yobe State, also functioned as the APC National Caretaker Chairman and Extraordinary Convention Committee, an action which contravened Section 183 of the 1999 Constitution.

Oni also claimed that the tenure of Buni as National Caretaker Chairman had expired when he signed the nomination forms.

He also stated in the petition that the deputy governorship candidate, Mrs Monisade Afuye, submitted fake West African Examination Council, WAEC, results and certificates to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to contest the election.
