Two suspected political thugs allegedly disrupting the campaign rally of the All Progressive Congress in Rivers have been arrested by the police. This was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

The thugs, in their numbers, were reported to have stormed the venue of the All Progressives Congress, APC, campaign rally in Eleme Local Government Area of the State on Tuesday, with the intention to cause chaos, but luck ran out for two of them, who were apprehended by the police.

Iringe-Koko said the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discrete investigation.

The police also displayed arms and ammunition recovered from the suspects by security personnel deployed at the venue of the APC campaign rally. There have been pockets of violence and disruption of campaign rallies by opposition parties in Rivers State.

Some leaders of opposition parties had pointed accusing fingers at the State Governor, Nyesom Wike, alleging that he is trying to frustrate the campaigns of other political parties in the State.
