No fewer than 10 persons have been allegedly killed by terrorists during an invasion of the Langson community, in the Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that during the attack which occurred three days after the attack on the Ungwan Wakili community, four villagers were also injured.

The invaders were said to have stormed the community around 9pm on Tuesday, shot sporadically and looted a shop in the area before they were repelled by mobile police officers.

The President, Atyap Community Development Association, Sam Achie, while confirming the incident to our correspondent, said 10 corpses had been recovered, adding that the corpses of other slain victims were still missing.

Lamenting over the development, Achie said despite the presence of military checkpoints around the village where the attack took place, the soldiers manning the checkpoints did nothing to repel the terrorists.

He noted that all the soldiers did was stop some youths from neighbouring villages who wanted to render help to residents under attack.

“It was unfortunate until the attackers finished their operations before the military allowed the youths. The military is sincerely not protecting us as they’re deployed. We are calling on the authority concerned to remove the military from the land.

“The carnage in Atyap communities was a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise the people from voting for a leader of their choice in the coming Saturday’s election.

“There are ongoing plans to disenfranchise our people from participating in Saturday’s election, and the government’s silence on the attacks speaks volume,” Achie said.

He, however, commended the MOPOL in the Langson community for repelling the attackers but urged the people to continue to remain alert to protect their communities and property against intruders.

The Chairman, Zango Kataf LGA, Francis Sani, while confirming the attack, appealed to the government to deploy more security agencies to the local government area to arrest the recurring attacks on innocent lives and property.
