A Federal High Court sitting in Owerri has sacked Princess Nkechi Mbachu-Anyanwu of Amuzi Obowo who has since been campaigning in Obowo as the Labour Party candidate for Obowo State Constituency Assembly elections.

The Court is a judgment delivered this morning, 17th March 2023 frowned at the gross and flagrant violation of constitutional provisions and the extant provisions of the Electoral Act, 2023.

The Court had ruled that it is an affront to the clear provisions of the electoral Act to contest in the primaries of a political party and run to another political party for the same election to contest for its primaries, having failed in the former. According to the Judge, this step is necessary for the restoration of Nigeria’s democratic norms and political integrity within the political sphere.

It is recalled that Hon. Agoha Emmanuel had since instituted this pre-election matter before the Federal High Court which was delayed technically to enable the elapse of time for the previously scheduled election that would have been held on the 11th march, 2023.

Consequently, Emma Agoha has been congratulated by the Party faithful’s in Obowo and beyond as it is reliably gathered that Emma Agoha has been around and fanning the growth and nursing of the Party before it was hijacked.

The Lawyer for Emma Agoha, described the judgment as a true reflection of justice, remarking that the judiciary has in recent times arisen to the occasion of protecting its integrity.

The consequential order of court directing INEC to substitute Princess Nkechi Mbachu-Anyanwu’s name has been served on INEC and same carried out immediately for want of time.
