Rangers head coach, Abdu Maikaba has blamed poor decision by the centre referee for his team’s 1-0 defeat to Rivers United on Wednesday.

The title holders halted the Flying Antelopes three-game unbeaten streak in the Nigeria Premier Football League at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.

Nyima Nwagua scored the decisive goal on 63 minutes.

Rangers wasted a number of chances to level the score in the game.

“It was a very good game from both sides which to a very large extent showcased our football in good light,” Maikaba told the club’s media.

“However, we conceded a goal due to a mistake by the referee who initially whistled in our favor after a tackle on my player which led to his being treated on the pitch but she turned around to give the advantage to Rivers United and this led to our conceding the goal.”
