Port Harcourt, Rivers – Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers state, has disclosed that he would not interfere in the affairs of the state after leaving office as governor on May 29.

Reacting to the possibility of his successor turning against him after leaving office, Wike said the incoming governor was not elected to serve him but to serve the state.

Siminalayi Fubara, the governor-elect, was the preferred candidate for Wike before the state’s March 18 governorship election, and he secured a landslide victory during the poll.

Wike would not hold any political post after leaving office, while Fubara will be taking over from Wike on May 29.
