V2 (Duo Artistes (Twins) real name Victor & Vincent Adeniyi) started their musical career in kwara state, Nigeria as part of children choir in the Evangelical Church of West Africa at age 7. They were inspired to handle instruments by their father who played guitar in the church and their mum who enjoyed singing. They began participating in variety shows while in secondary school (Omega College, Kwara) at the college chapel.
On discovering their passion for music, they formed a group, ‘Harps Of David (HOD)’ comprising themselves and 2 other members. However, the other 2 left for academic pursuits after secondary school. Victor & Vincent later moved to Timeless Records where they groomed themselves into music producers and recording artistes.
The duo have been greatly influenced by the likes of R. Kelly, Usher Raymond, West Life, 2Pac as well as the great Michael Jackson. On the Nigerian scene, their models include 2 can Play, Style Plus and mostly PSquare.
Their former stage name, Da-Vees, was popular in their locality in Kwara. However, at a show in Ilorin, kwara State (Stella Obasanjo Multi-purpose Hall) in 2008, the crowd was so moved that they began shouting the name Vsquare because of their outfit and electrifying performance which was similar to that of the famous PSquare. And so, the name V2 was born.
