The Academic Staff Union of the Universities, (ASUU), in Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Kano, has condemned the dissolution of the institution’s Governing Council by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Chairman of the ASUU chapter in the university, Dr. Aliyu Yusuf Ahmad, and the Secretary,Dr. Mudasir Nasiru, described the dissolution as inappropriate.
The union faulted the continued running of the University without a Governing Council after the dissolution, a development which it said is in breach of the provisions of the Kano University Amended Law, 2017.
The ASUU chapter urged the governor to hasten the reconstitution of the Governing Council as a matter of urgency in order to avoid paralyzing the academic activities in the university.
The union further appealed to the governor to settle all outstanding staff entitlements.
