The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has expressed deep concern over the recent judgments of the Court of Appeal nullifying the elections of lawmakers in Plateau State based on pre-election matters already addressed by the Supreme Court.

The Forum emphasised that while the Supreme Court had set precedence on pre-election issues, PDP candidates in Plateau State were disqualified on the same grounds.

Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Sen. Bala Muhammad, disclosed this at a press briefing with journalists after the meeting of the Forum at Oyo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

“We called on the judiciary at the apex level to preserve the integrity of the legal system and prevent distortion of our country’s jurisprudence.

DAILY POST recalls that the Court of Appeal in Abuja, in its recent judgments, overturned the elections of three National Assembly members from the PDP, citing that they were not validly nominated by their party.

Muhammad reaffirmed the Forum’s confidence in the judiciary’s ability to administer justice in political and other cases before the courts.

On the Supreme Court’s judgment on the 2023 presidential election, the chairman said, “the Court’s judgment on the presidential election marks the conclusion of the Presidential election cycle and emphasised the need for an end to litigations.
