A priest in charge of St. Michael’s Catholic Church Parish in Umuekebi, Osuoweerre autonomous community in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, Rev Fr Kingsley Eze, has been kidnapped by gunmen.
The priest was kidnapped on Thursday night at Orieama Junction around 8 p.m. alongside another man identified as Uchenna Newman.
According to reports, Newman drove the priest in a Volvo jeep to Orieama Junction, where they came down to buy something before they were kidnapped.
Aside from the kidnapping incident, it was gathered that the gunmen, who operated on two motorcycles, robbed and destroyed several shops.
While leaving, it was said that the gunmen fired shots, which unfortunately hit someone who was rushed to a hospital.
According to reports, it is the third kidnapping incident to take place within a space of weeks on the Anara Umuelemai road.
Meanwhile, the Imo State Police Command is yet to react to the incident.
