The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended four suspects who were posing as EFCC operatives. These individuals allegedly robbed students of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa and abducted a student named Adudu Kingsley, an ND II student.

According to DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, the incident occurred on April 17, 2024, around 15:45 hrs. The suspects, driving a Toyota Corolla with Abuja registration number YAB 509 TT, robbed students at Samakwe Lodge behind Government College, Nasarawa LGA.

Police responded promptly to the distress call, chasing the suspects. At Laminga junction, a roadblock was set up to intercept the suspects, but they rammed through and fled. However, at Anguwan Madugu, another roadblock was mounted, prompting the suspects to abandon their vehicle and the abducted student and flee. One suspect was apprehended by an angry mob and later died from injuries sustained.

Further investigation led to the arrest of three additional suspects: Hyelda Aliyu Ibrahim, Henry Patrick Okwu, and Shuaibu Abubakar (the driver).

Recovered exhibits include an iPhone 12 Pro Max, Huawei, and Tecno Spark 5 phones, as well as fake EFCC ID cards. The suspects confessed to terrorizing student areas in Keffi and Nasarawa LGA.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspect. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia, for further investigation.

Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has assured that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
