Mmom, a loyalist of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is the third reappointed commissioner to resign. Previously, the former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Zacchaeus Adangor, and former Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu, also stepped down following Fubara’s directive to redeploy them to different ministries.

In his resignation letter dated May 25, 2024, and addressed to the governor through the Secretary to the State Government, Mmom expressed his concerns about the work environment. “A calm and friendly environment stimulates efficient service delivery and productivity. Unfortunately, my current workspace has become toxic and no longer guarantees a favorable environment to achieve my targets for the education sector in the state,” he wrote.
