The NUISS called for immediate action to enhance safety at busy intersections and bus stops to prevent future tragedies. They urged Governor Hope Uzodinma, who quickly established a panel to investigate the accident, to implement specific measures:

  1. Prohibit the loading of passengers within 40 meters of the IMSU junction.
  2. Install speed bumps 20 meters and 30 meters from the junction to control vehicle speed in the heavily trafficked student area.

The NUISS also encouraged all students to remain vigilant and prioritize safety.

“May the souls of the departed rest in peace and may their families find the strength to endure this profound loss,” the statement concluded.
