A tragic incident unfolded on Friday night along the Awka-Onitsha Expressway in Anambra State, where a hit-and-run driver fatally struck a female pedestrian. The state Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the heartbreaking event.

Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, the FRSC Commander in Anambra, informed newsmen on Saturday in Awka that the driver involved fled the scene immediately after the collision. The incident is believed to have been caused by excessive speeding.

The crash involved a Toyota Hiace commercial bus, driven by an unidentified individual who was reportedly en route to Upper Iweke, Onitsha. The vehicle, lacking registration plates, struck the woman with devastating force before speeding away.
