President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja on Thursday evening after attending the inauguration of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for his second term in Johannesburg. President Tinubu arrived at about 5:30 PM.
Prior to his South Africa trip, Tinubu had been in Lagos since last Friday for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. He departed for Johannesburg on Wednesday to join other African leaders for Ramaphosa’s inauguration.
During his visit, Tinubu also had a closed-door meeting with President Ramaphosa at his hotel. A statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, revealed that the two leaders discussed the common challenges faced by African countries and emphasized the need for increased collaboration to address these issues.
President Tinubu praised Ramaphosa’s inaugural speech, noting that it highlighted the shared challenges and the importance of cooperation among African leaders and citizens. “I really enjoyed your speech at the ceremony. I was delighted listening to you. We have lots of issues in common, and we need to work more closely together. It was a good celebration,” Tinubu said.
