A tragic accident on Monday along the Aba-Ikot Ekpene road in Abia State resulted in the deaths of seven passengers.

The collision involved a Toyota Sienna bus from an Akwa Ibom-based transport company and a red tipper carrying wet sand. The incident occurred at Ukpakiri Junction on the federal road.

Most of the victims were traveling in the Sienna bus. As of now, there has been no official statement regarding the cause of the accident or the exact number of casualties.

Eyewitnesses and local transporters attributed the accident to speeding by the Toyota Sienna driver. However, some residents suggested that brake failure of the tipper might have led to the collision.
