A dispute over a miniskirt has tragically resulted in the death of a man in Faram Faram village, Fufore Local Government Area. The incident unfolded when Patrick John returned home one evening from a local drinking joint and found his pregnant wife, Maryam, wearing a miniskirt he had previously forbidden.

Reports indicate that on the night of June 13, 2024, a heated argument ensued, with Patrick allegedly grabbing Maryam by the neck. Her cries for help attracted neighbors who intervened and temporarily separated the couple. However, Patrick returned later and allegedly assaulted Maryam again.

Maryam, now facing charges in court, is pleading self-defense. During her arraignment at Chief Magistrate Court 2 in Yola, presided over by Magistrate Musa Alhaji Adamu, she claimed her actions were a spontaneous attempt to protect herself.

The judge ordered Maryam’s remand following her guilty plea to the charge of culpable homicide and adjourned the case to July 10, 2024.
