The 53-year-old football icon, who resigned from his position as Super Eagles head coach last month, expressed readiness to embrace his new challenge with Rivers United. His departure from the national team came amid the Nigeria Football Federation’s decision to appoint a foreign technical adviser over him, despite a mixed record of one win in four games.
Speaking at his unveiling as the new head coach of Rivers United, Finidi George emphasized his commitment to making an impact in the Nigerian league.
“My time with the Super Eagles didn’t pan out as expected, but now I’m focused on contributing to our local league here. As a coach, you can’t afford to remain idle,” he remarked.
